Photographer: Bec from Azure Mysterious

I’m so happy I finally got to meet up with Bec from Azure Mysterious. I really love the shoots she’s done in gardens and how she makes everything look magical, so we shot this one in the beautiful botanic gardens by Sydney harbour. With the Christmas nearing and wallets being emptied on gifts for loved ones, I thought I’d do another affordable look post. The navy blue kimono and lace shorts are both from Sheinside and go for about $10 each. Typically I wouldn’t expect much from clothing that’s really cheap but these shorts actually feel nice and are super comfy! They’ve now become one of my staple bottoms for this summer. The kimono material is a bit thin for my liking but it looks amazing and the colour is so much more stunning in person. I will say though, the low price tag comes with a cost… Shipping took FOREVER and customer service wasn’t great. None the less I would buy from Sheinside again if there was something I wouldn’t mind waiting for. Haha. Keen to hear where you do your discount shopping…Let me know in the comments!

I managed to get time between work and study for a quick shot of this amazing white lace cutout dress. I’m super obsessed with the hugging fit and lace detailing. Paired with my favourite heels from Lipstik which are ridiculously comfortable… like I can walk in them all day long :D Anyway I’m halfway through final exams and looking forward to getting more looks done for you babes. In the mean time, keep up with me on Facebook or Instagram.

So I just realised that I haven’t done a budget outfit post in a while – so here you go :) I had to share this super cute crochet dress with you guys, especially because it was only $15 (including shipping). I’ll warn you now though that its from China – meaning its really really small. I managed to fit into it but the length is really short, even on me (5’0” tall) – so maybe have a search on Ebay for bigger sizes? Anyway…I’m really falling for the crochet trend at the moment even though I HATED it when I was a kid. Its just so super light weight and perfect for those ridiculously hot days and dancing around at festivals like a boho gypsy queen. The belt I’ve paired with the dress was hand made by my amazingly talented uncle :D He is such an artist! I’ll have to take more photos so you can see the detail in it but I’ve linked a similar belt above. And of course… I’ve pulled out the fedora AGAIN :) It just goes with everything! Hope you are all doing well. The next few weeks are going to be crazy for me with the end of my degree nearing, but I promise I’ll try my hardest to do more posts. I’m thinking of doing a post on my favourite beauty products. What do you think?

So here is the next spring/summer look I want to show you guys. I’m really loving the boho vibes this summer. I’m not usually one for dresses but I really love the tribal pattern in this one so I couldn’t resist. My style has always been edgy, so I’m really trying to find a perfect blend of bohemian and edgy punk rocker – that’s why I’ve paired the dress with black boots and the black leather belt. The detail in the belt buckle is absolutely amazing. I wear it with pretty much everything these days… I never want to take it off! I’m also looking for more blogs with a really cool bohemian style. Let me know if you guys know of any! :D

Soo I’ve been getting super excited for spring/summer and I’ve got a few looks lined up that I’m keen to show you! This is the first of my spring/summer edit :) I’ve been crushing over this Everland Clothing bralette for so long now and its finally mine. It feels soo soft and silky and the brightness of it is just amazing. It’s definitely going to be one of my main pieces this summer. You know I don’t like wearing much colour so I really love how well the sunflowers blend in with blacks. Another one of my recent obsessions is jewellery! This super cute mandala necklace goes with more than I thought it would, and never fails to reel in complements. Hunter Gatherer is one of my go-to stores for majestic jewels. You’ll definitely be seeing more of their stuff this summer! What’s your dream summer outfit?

Rachel’s Questions

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging for a range of reasons, the biggest being my obsession with style and shopping. I really wanted a channel that I could express my creativeness and share ideas for outfits. I also wanted to help others find affordable, fashionable outfits – that’s why I’ve linked everything since day 1! Another part of me wanted to show the world that you can rock a cool style, no matter your body type (I’m almost as short as Gimli).

Who is your celebrity crush?
I think I’ve re-fallen in love with Ryan Gosling after reading his article in the most recent copy of the Collective Magazine.

Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to you 13 year old self?
Hahaha! What a good question…where do I even start. There were a lot of stupid choices made throughout my teen years, and although they cause a lot of drama and tears, I’d probably tell my 13 year old self that no matter what happens, in the end everything will be okay. I wouldn’t want to change a thing that I’ve been through because it has made me who I am today.

If you could only shop at one clothing store for the rest of your life, where would you shop and why?
Ohh this is a tricky one Rach! I’d have to play it safe and say ASOS, just because they have a HUGE range of clothing so no matter how much my style evolves, I know there will be something I’ll like.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years I see myself working for a high-end fashion PR agency, or even travelling. I’d be happy either way :)

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Haha there were a range of things… I wanted to be Britney Spears so bad, but when I realised that was close to impossible, I moved onto wanting to explore outer space (if only Guardians of the Galaxy were real).

What is your favorite social media platform (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)?
Definitely Instagram! I love visual content, in fact I have selective vision when it comes to social media – I really only look at things with pictures or videos. My Instagram feed is probably one of the highest influences on my style and creative ideas too.

What is your favorite season of the year?
Definitely Autumn or Spring (Australia is usually amazing in Spring but this year its been pretty shitty) >:(

What fashion trend will you never try?
Really preppy girly styles…soo just not me. haha.

What are you currently obsessing over?
Finding the perfect blend between edgy/grunge and boho styles. Super love both but when you mix them together in the right way… WOW.

Are you more of a pessimist, optimist, or somewhere in between?
My glass is half full :)

My Questions:

  1. How did you come up with your blog name?
  2. Why did you start blogging?
  3. If you could have one super power what would it be?
  4. What is your dream job?
  5. What is your favourite season for fashion?
  6. If you could go back in time, what era would you visit?
  7. What is your biggest fear?
  8. What was your last dream about?
  9. What’s your favourite indoor/outdoor activity?
  10. Name three songs that inspire you the most.
  11. What advice would you give to new bloggers?

Have you ever thought about what makes a minimalist outfit so simple and stylish? These Trendy Creature rings are the perfect accessories to complete a simple stunning look. Often when piecing together a simple chic outfit, I go for my shiniest jewelry to get a little ‘extra’ that a simple outfit needs. These rings are perfect for exactly that! They are super bright and shine off even minimal light whilst keeping your simple look clean and crisp. Definitely my go-to for those simple chic days. What do you pair with your minimalist look?

Yep I really wasn’t kidding when I said Wildfox’s new collection got me mad for pastels! My collection is rapidly growing :) This post I’ve got two separate looks to show you. The first features Missguided’s lilac crop chiffon blouse which is super easy to dress. I usually prefer dressing pastels with white but I’m kind of liking the contrast between pastels and black. The second look features Lucy in The Sky’s powder blue deep v neck top which has quickly become one of my go-to tops because of how easy it is to dress up or down! It’s kind of my Friday shirt because I can wear it to work and still go out straight after work without having an outfit change (I’m lazy like that). Anyone else have those multipurpose outfits? Anyway I’m more excited to show you all the shoes in both these looks! Aren’t they both amazing <3
